2.24.2007 - The Kid and The King

Atlantic City, NJ - The young guitar prodigy from Linwood, Patrick Droney, is honored with the chance to open for his musical idol, BB King, at the House of Blues. Before taking the stage, Droney explains the genesis of his receiving of the Robert Johnson Blues Generation Award, and goes on to thrill the audience with his musical skill.
Hamiton Township, NJ - The popular Neo Celtic band, Birnam Wood, makes its annual stop at Oakcrest High School, where the drummer in the band is the vice principal. The Irish tunes thrill the students (and teachers) in the audience before the tense upcoming standardized tests.

Atlantic City, NJ - Classic car enthusiasts from around the world amass to witness what is billed as “the largest indoor car show” in the world. Along with all the automobiles on display, the show includes an intense car auction that sells to the serious collector.
Trenton, NJ - Newly elected by the Atlantic County Republican Committee, James “Sonny” McCullough goes to Trenton to take the 2nd district senate seat vacated by Bill Gormley. Here, he is sworn in, with supporters (and possible future opponents) in the audience.
Atlantic City, NJ - Pinnacle Entertainment begins packing up and shipping out hundreds of dust collecting slot machines from the empty Sands Casino, to be used in other gaming jurisdictions where Pinnacle holds interest.

Atlantic City, NJ - Harrah’s Atlantic City donates an expensive display of tropical fish, along with some elaborate tanks, to the nearby Atlantic City Aquarium. Its a part of Harrah’s phasing out of the well known FantaSea Reef Buffet to make way for a more upscale expansion. However, the transportation of the fish is no simple task; its certainly a job for the experts…
Atlantic City, NJ - Harrah’s Atlantic City unveils phase 1 of its massive expansion project to the media. The tour of the new shops and upscale Waterfront Buffet also includes a sneak peak at the multi million dollar “Endless Summer” spa, a spectacular domed structure that is nearing completion.
Linwood, NJ - William Gormley, the Republican State Senator of New Jersey’s 2nd District, takes a moment to reflect on his career in public service on his last day in office. A powerful, colorful character known all over the state for his brash brand of politics, Gormley was an excellent advocate for the casino industry, which he helped to grow and prosper, along with his district. Often intimidating but rarely intimidated, Gormley’s interview (conducted at NBC 40’s Linwood studio) is complimented by some vintage moments from his past, in front of the microphones, where his playful actions contrast with his image as Atlantic County party boss.

Middle Township, NJ - Animals enjoy a day off from visitors when the Cape May County zoo closes because of snow and ice. Here, we get a tour of the zoo and the special accommodations provided to the creatures in light of the frigid climate.
